Bettie Baldwin 1879
CDV portrait of a young woman, head and shoulders view. Her hair is parted at the center and gathered in two braids along the top on either side, while hair on the side above the ear is pulled back, and there is a dark bow just visible at back. Her collar has a frilly white inner lining that extends above a darker band that goes about halfway up her neck. The dress has a lapel-like feature, and a large white frill at front. She appears to have pierced ears and one dangling earring is visible, and there may be a brooch of some sort at her throat. The back of the card is inscribed at top, very lightly in pencil 'April 17/79' and then in ink 'April 17/1879 % Recd. april 24/79' and at the bottom, also in ink 'Miss Bettie Baldwin / Cherryvale Kan'. The photographers imprint has a floral spray at top, then an open oval within a rectangular border - like a picture frame, with banners across top and bottom, and below a camera on an artists palet and some curlicue lines. The top banner reads 'G. H. Dresser, Artist,' then within the oval _Bender's Gallery,_ and the lower banner says 'Independence, Ks'
