Minnie Beane 1872

CDV portrait on buff colored card with a thin gilt line around the picture area, rounded corners, the bottom has been trimmed off. Head and shoulders portrait of a young girl, 10 to 12 years old. She is wearing a checked dress with broad dark yoke, and fine lace collar about two inches wide, held at throat with a round brooch. Her hair is parted in the middle, though curly so the part isn't clear, and combed back so it can be seen behind her ear disappearing behind the shoulder. The back of the card is very smooth, with a light inscription near the top 'Minnie Beane / June 28. 1872. The center back of the card has a four-line photographer's imprint, the name being larger and ornate font: 'Geo. N. Cobb, / Photographer / 77 Court Street, / Binghampton, N. Y.'

NOTE: Transcription conventions:
When transcribing inscriptions (hand-written notes) or imprints (printed data) or stamped information (hand-stamped marks) the information is usually enclosed in single quotes [ ' ] with a slash to represent line breaks [ / ] -- however if the line includes an apostrophe, it will be enclosed in blank underlines instead [ _ ] and if the line includes a slash line breaks will be represented with a percent sign [ % ]. All transcriptions are based on best-effort, we are not responsible for errors -- some writing and even fancy printed texts are very difficult to read, and the copy may be smeared, faded, obscured or otherwise made even less legible.
