Mabel Wheeler Smith 1888

CDV with head and shoulders view of a young woman. She is wearing a cap-like hat, with just a short bill in front for a brim, and a ribbon tied around it with a bow in front. Her light colored hair is barely visible between the cap and her ear, the hair being pulled back behind the ear. She is wearing a dark fur coat, buttoned all the way up, so no other details are visible. She is not wearing earrings. The card is glossy smooth on both sides, beige on front and white on back, with the photographers imprint on back in dark reddish-brown ink. The edges are gilt and beveled. The inscription is in ink. At top back is 'M. W. S.' (her initials), at bottom back 'Mabel Wheeler Smith / 1888' with the year in lighter tinted ink. The photographers imprint reads 'Wyatt / Photographer, / 61 Main Street, Brattleboro, Vt. / Duplicates Furnished At Any Time'. The imprint is along the length of the back, with the name in script and underlined taking up about half the imprint, and each succeeding line smaller than the preceding.

NOTE: Transcription conventions:
When transcribing inscriptions (hand-written notes) or imprints (printed data) or stamped information (hand-stamped marks) the information is usually enclosed in single quotes [ ' ] with a slash to represent line breaks [ / ] -- however if the line includes an apostrophe, it will be enclosed in blank underlines instead [ _ ] and if the line includes a slash line breaks will be represented with a percent sign [ % ]. All transcriptions are based on best-effort, we are not responsible for errors -- some writing and even fancy printed texts are very difficult to read, and the copy may be smeared, faded, obscured or otherwise made even less legible.
