ClassyArts Graphics -- Our Philosophy
The Pending Images Collection provides access to images that have not yet been processed for the main archives. The goal of this collection is to make available a large number of images more rapidly than we can add new pictures in the main archives -- so information is added to the database rapidly, without background research. Estimated dates may be off, or there may be typos in the image title or description, or even duplicated images (we will remove those when found, and replace any duplicate order with any other image). Images are very roughly graded by condition, based on size and general impression of the clarity of the image. Those rated 'Poor' and some of the 'OK' images will probably never be added to the main archives, but may have some special interest due to the subject or photographers, and thus are made available here. Our initial emphasis is on photographs, mostly portraits and stereoviews, but in time we will be adding prints to the collection. All images with estimated dates in the 19th century can be confidently considered Public Domain images that you may use in any way you like -- later images are probably also public domain, but are used at your own discretion.
